Location: Located in the western district of Coimbatore, the district capital serves as an entry point from Kerala. It is situated on the banks of River Noyyal in the Western Ghats and hence experiences a pleasant climate throughout the year. |
Description: Coimbatore known as the Manchester of South, is also the most industrialised city of the state of Tamil Nadu. Due to the Nilgiri mountains in the western side, it experiences a pleasant climte throughout the year. The rich soil served as the backbone for the agricultural products, especially cotton. The first textile mill of Coimbatore was establishe in the year 1888 and since then it also became the textile capital. Coimbatore is also known for the manufacture of motor pump sets and varied engineering goods and its handloom products. A large number of technical institutions in Coimbatore cater to the growing technical needs of the region. |
